Stanley’s Steamers, San Francisco: “Fine pedestrian dining since 1974.” The company was founded by law student Stanley Roth, who successfully fought City Hall to become San Francisco’s first food-cart vendor. Stanley’s Steamers still thrives; it’s now joined by more than 100 rival food carts that chug along the city’s streets peddling gumbo, crème brulée, adobo, lumpia, curry, madeleines, bao, escargots, and almost anything else you have an appetite for.

Glad to hear Stan's hotdog stands are still around. We used to be neighbors when the kids were little. Very nice family.
