Beverages are being served; your host asks what you're in the mood for. "Oh, I don't care," you say. "Anything. Whatever." Coming right up. Singapore-based beverage company Out of the Box is now selling carbonated Anything and noncarbonated Whatever; each comes in six flavors, and here's the kicker--you don't know which flavor is in the can until you pop it open. As Andy Nulman says on his blog, Pow! Right Between the Eyes, "It's like a blind date for your tongue." It might also be the opening gambit in a whole new naming strategy: a candy bar called Something, snack chips called Huh?, a car named I Dunno. Operator, get me Abbott and Costello!
I absolutely love this idea!

This didn't work out exactly as planned. My friend in Singapore offers this followup news story: http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/singaporelocalnews/view/277832/1/.html

Tim--I did read about that bus-stop brouhaha. It doesn't seem to have stopped Out of the Box from marketing the beverages. Indeed, it seems to have generated so much PR that I wonder whether the whole thing was orchestrated.
