i don't get why they need to change the name. the new name isn't an improvement and to me just makes it as ordinary as any other resting point.

I agree! Why mess with perfection? House of Blues Hotel has a rich history and tells a story that is way more interesting than "chic, upscale". And sax is clearly a silly word, ripe for jr. high jokes...

Whenever I hear "House of Blues Hotel" I start humming "Since my baby left me/I've found a new place to dwell..."

Is there something about having "Hotel" at the beginning of a name that makes it sound more upscale than at the end?

I agree, Nancy. The House of Blues Hotel makes me think of music immediatly. Which in itself is sexy. But subtle-sexy. The good kind.
